The situation in Venezuela affects Curaçao in various ways. Venezuela is our ‘neighbor’, with only 67 kilometers of sea between the two national borders. Venezuela is and will always remain an important neighbor of Curaçao, given the historical, cultural, social, economic and family intertwining between the two countries. The Government of Curaçao will at all times stand up for the interests of the people of Curaçao, both within the Kingdom and in Venezuela.
The developments in Venezuela make the asylum, protection and humanitarian aid themes very topical. This is the case at both international and local level.
